The Truth About Skincare

Maintaining youthful, healthy skin depends on the lifetime intake of complete nutrition and sufficient amounts clean water.

The public has been mislead regarding the health, care and protection of our skin.  Companies routinely generate wildly false marketing material that is based, at least in part, on incorrect scientific research which is not only supported, but actively promoted, by the FDA.  True skincare is not found on the shelves of Macy’s or Walgreens.  In reality, the very products that are advertised as possessing “anti-aging” properties are actually causing skin damage.  There is no cream, lotion or other topical solution that is sold in a supermarket, drug store, pharmacy or department store that will improve one’s skin in a healthful, sustainable way. Youthful, healthy, wrinkle-free skin is the result of a lifetime of proper hydration and nutrition (taken internally, not applied topically) and minimal exposure to toxins.  Wrinkles, sagging skin, skin tags, dry skin, mottled pigmentation (liver spots) and ashen skin are all symptoms of what “experts” define as aging skin which they attribute to:  1) the natural aging process that they claim is unavoidable; 2) damage caused by sunlight.  Neither assertion is true.  What causes the skin to “age” is toxins, malnutrition and inadequate hydration.

Toxins

Contrary to the nonsensical rhetoric of the mainstream scientific and medical communities, sunlight does not “age” the skin or cause skin cancer.  In fact, sunlight is the single best source of vitamin D which is essential for proper calcium metabolism and intestinal calcium and phosphorus uptake.  Sunlight is very healthy for the skin and whole body metabolism when the body is toxin free and sufficiently nourished by nutrients.  When toxins are consumed or applied to the skin, the skin becomes imbalanced.  At which time, sunlight exposure can produce toxic skin reactions.  Therefore, sunlight is not the cause of skin problems; instead it is the toxic food and skin care products (including sunscreen) that we are being led to believe are harmless and even helpful.  From a purely practical viewpoint, which claim makes more sense:  that something that is absolutely essential to all life on this planet is slowly killing us or that the multitude of made-man chemicals that we are pouring into our bodies is the culprit?

False scientific research and advertising is supporting multi-billion dollar cosmetic, hair care and skin care industries that are direct contributory factors in the alarming increase of skin cancer rates and the unnecessary aging of our skin.  This truth can be confirmed by muscle testing,  observation and statistics.  It is a commonly accepted generalization that men tend to age more gracefully than women.  One significant reason is that most men apply very little, if anything, to their hair and skin.  Whereas women use a myriad of extremely toxic products such as dyes, permanents, shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, hair mousses/gels, cosmetics, finger nail polish, polish remover, moisturizers and various forms of sunscreens on a daily basis.  Consider the statistics:  skin cancer was nonexistent prior to the 19th century and while our exposure to the sun continues to decline due to avoidance and sunscreen products, skin cancer rates continue to increase.  Concurrently, there is an ever increasing number of vitamin D deficiency related illnesses, particularly in women.

It is crucial to keep toxins out of the body and off the skin.  Skin is the largest organ of the body and absorbs any and all toxins to an even greater extent than if they were swallowed.  When toxins are ingested, at least some of them will be eliminated from the body through the normal digestive process.  Toxins absorbed through the skin will not be subject to this filtration process.  An easy rule of thumb is to not use anything on the skin that cannot be eaten.  To illustrate, if one is not willing to drink the water of the pool or hot tub then do not get into it.  If one is not willing to eat the highly toxic moisturizing cream or sun block, then do not apply it to the skin.  Quantum Nutrition Labs produces some wonderful face creams that are edible however they are completely unnecessary and far too expensive.  Beautiful skin is maintained by a nutritionally sound diet, not any topical solution.  If a moisturizer is needed, a high quality cold-pressed olive oil is the best and least expensive choice.

Malnutrition

So how could we, as a nation, be starving when nearly three quarters of the population is defined as being overweight or obese?  Very simply, it is not how much we are eating but what we are eating.  A person can literally gorge themselves into a stupor the entire day and not have consumed enough nutrition to successfully complete just one push-up or sit-up without placing extreme stress on their body.  Is it any wonder our skin loses its youthful appearance so quickly?  Essential fatty acids (EFAs), vitamins C, E, A and B complex are all necessary to improve and/or maintain skin health and appearance.   Vitamins and EFAs cannot be stored by the body and have to be consumed regularly in the diet.

Inadequate Hydration

The vast majority of us do not drink enough water to maintain basic bodily functions, let alone young skin.  Water should be the only liquid being consumed with the exception of fresh, raw homemade juice.  Since we all are different, there is a simple method to determine the minimum amount of water that is necessary for each of us.  Take your body weight and divide it in half; the resulting figure represents the minimum number of ounces of clean water one should consume every day.  If there is a lack of desire or significant resistance to drinking this much water, mineral deficiency is the most likely cause.  The body is intentionally preventing the further dilution of the few minerals it is receiving.  The deficiency may be due to insufficient mineral intake, poor mineral absorption in the small intestines or poor mineral reabsorption in the kidneys.  Taking the appropriate dosage of Quantum Coral Calcium powder should help alleviate one’s resistance to drinking more water.

Although it is generally accepted that tap water is unclean, most people do not realize that the vast majority of bottled water is also toxic.  The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) conducted a four year study of bottled water which showed that one-third of the bottled water tested contained levels of contamination that exceeded allowable limits under either state or bottled water industry standards.   The NRDC’s results have been confirmed countless times by muscle testing.  As absurd as the government’s concept of clean water is, the bottled water industries’ standards can be even more dangerous.  While there are a few bottled waters that muscle test as relatively clean and energetically strong (Fuji, Penta, Deer Park), they are still contaminated.  Coupled with their high cost, this excludes bottled water as a viable source of beneficial hydration.  The best solution, and least expensive, is to make your own clean water.  There are many quality water filtration systems available of which reverse osmosis systems and water ozone generators produce the purest water.  Water ozone generators not only provide the most toxin-free water, but water that will clear the gastrointestinal tract of many infectious agents.  Ozonated water also helps rejuvenate red blood cells allowing them to carry oxygen more efficiently.

    I never really thought about it, but your advice to not put anything on your skin that you are not willing to eat makes perfect sense. Although I know the skin absorbs most anything that touches it, I never considered that toxins could do as much or more damage than if we eat them. When I started taking a mental inventory of all the thing hazard things that have been on my skin in my lifetime, I’m amazed I am still walking and talking. Thanks for the wake-up call, I just hope it didn’t come too late for me.

    You are absolutely right! I have only used oil olive on my skin since I was a kid because that was what my mother told me to do. I stayed with it because it worked. I don’t use make-up, creams or sunscreen. I’m now in my late 50′s and I don’t have a single wrinkle. I’m sure it has also helped that I have been a vegan most my life and went all raw nearly 20 years ago.

    For some reason, this article resonated with me. It seemed logical and, most importantly, a truthful assessment of skin health and how to maintain it. Therefore, the first product I purchased to begin my own experimentation was Quantum EFAs, although I bought the liquid. I have been taking one teaspoon every morning for nearly two months.
